The rules changed. No one told you.

This is not a Wellness Program.

This is for women who refuse to be dismissed, minimized or misled.

Over forty years in medicine — from emergency room nursing to naturopathic practice to pioneering microbiome research in Silicon Valley — I’ve seen what happens when capable women are given generic advice for complex physiological change.

I’ve served underresourced communities, guided individuals through chronic illness, and worked in early ME/CFS research when fatigue was first understood as mitochondrial dysfunction. And over and over, I saw the same pattern: women doing everything “right” but still struggling — especially through menopause.

The truth? This phase of life is a lot of work. And it is worth taking it on!
INTELLIGENT METABOLISM is NOT a quick fix. Not a pill or a program. But deliberate, measured, and data-driven effort that translates your biology into meaningful action. You learn to read what your body is telling you, respond intelligently, and rebuild from the cellular level up — because midlife is not forgiving, and ignoring it is costly.

Dr. Deb Heald
Naturopathic Physician, RN (ret), MBA

I was a machine.

Seventeen years of emergency nursing — other people's worst days, every shift. Raising three kids essentially on my own, often in adversarial circumstances. Going back to school for naturopathic medicine at 42. Building a successful practice from the ground up. When the oil price collapse shut it down in 2017, I pivoted — moved to Silicon Valley, jumped into cutting-edge microbiome and AI-driven research. Did my MBA at 57. I was fit, sharp, and had the energy to change the axis of the planet.

I wasn't someone who struggled. I was someone who handled things.

Then menopause arrived — and without realizing it, I crossed into a different physiological reality.

A foot fracture. A hand fracture. Then my wrist — in a yoga class. The place I went to heal became another place I broke.

And while my bones were failing, life delivered losses that would have leveled me even if I'd been whole. I wasn't whole. I was already fractured. And I kept fracturing.

Then the epic ankle fracture — two surgeries. Another foot fracture. A frozen shoulder. Months of immobility.

I had been doing what I always did: pushed through. Ignored the signals. Treated my body like a machine that just needed better maintenance.

It looked like it would cost me my ability to stay fit, my metabolism, and my sense of agency.

What I eventually understood — not from a textbook, but from living it — was that the rules had changed and no one had told me. My metabolism, my hormones, my nervous system, my bones — they weren't failing randomly. They were responding to signals I'd never been taught to read.

The problem wasn't my body. The problem was that I was fluent in crisis medicine, the naturopathic cornerstones (root cause, good food, exercise, sleep and stress management), research, business strategy — and completely illiterate in the language my own biology was now speaking.

Estrogen loss collapsed my bone density. Grief and cortisol accelerated the damage. I kept doing what had always worked — movement, discipline, pushing through — and it kept breaking me. Because the rules had changed. And I didn't know.

Menopause didn't break me because I was weak. It broke me because I was operating an old system in a new reality.

Recovery didn't come from willpower. It came from understanding. From learning to read what my body was actually telling me. From data, not hope. From precision, not protocols.

That's what I teach now.

Not because I figured it out gracefully. But because I know what it costs when capable women aren't given the information they need — when they're dismissed, minimized, or handed generic advice that doesn't account for what's actually happening in their biology.

I built INTELLIGENT Metabolism for women like me. Women who have handled everything. Women who are used to being competent, reliable, the one who figures it out. Women who are now watching their bodies behave in ways that don't make sense — and who refuse to accept "just menopause" as an answer.

Your body isn't broken. It's speaking a language you were never taught.

Data translates it. I teach you to read it. You learn to respond.

Fun Facts About

Jayde Van Gelderen

I’m a dedicated DIY’er and genuinely believe I can build, create, or cook anything from scratch… even when I probably shouldn’t attempt it.

I’ve recently reconnected with my Métis heritage and love exploring my lineage through traditional foraging, medicinal plants, and ancestral food practices.

Between having babies, you’ll find me hiking, playing Ringette, and taking on new challenges—like the fitness competition I completed just one year postpartum with my second daughter.

My journey in holistic wellness began in 2012 while working with Dr. Heald—an experience that ignited my passion for understanding the connection between nutrition, lifestyle, and long-term health. This led me to the Canadian School of Natural Nutrition, where I completed my training and became a Certified Holistic Nutritionist. Since then, my focus has been empowering women to thrive—not simply survive—through every season of life.

Today, I live a simple and intentional country life with my husband and children. In a world that rarely pauses, I value slow mornings, homeschooling, and the natural rhythms of farm life. My approach to health is rooted in ancestral practices - whether it's baking homemade sourdough, fermenting vegetables, and sourcing all of our meat through ethical hunting. I believe wholeheartedly that nurturing your health today prevents the need to fight illness later.
